Attention Paddlers!  

We are hosting the Reel Paddling Film Festival on August 27th at the Jackalope Lakeside in Lorain. The show begins at 7:00pm will run approx 2 hours and will be showing segments of the film (mostly different from our first showing). They will include whitewater kayaking, kayaking trips, stand up paddle boarding, canoeing and inspiring stories.

            Other Events Going on: 

Beach Demos – Try out paddleboards and kayaks on the beach.  Free to public (16 years and up) throughout the event.  Paddleboards and kayaks provided by “Lake Erie Paddler” and “West River Kayak”.

Family “Smart Start” Classes – Pre-register for FREE beginner kayaking lessons designed for children and adults – 11am, Noon, 1pm, and 2pm.  Lessons will include beach and on-water instruction.  Pre-register atwww.metroparks.cc or by calling 1-800-LCM-PARK (children must sign-up with participating adult).

                Seminars – Educational seminars will take place on Beach House deck and on beach.

Information Tables – Several organizations will have information available related to paddle sports and outdoor adventure activities in our area.  Organizations will include the Coastguard (“Coastie” will make an appearance!), Division of Watercraft, Lorain County Visitors Bureau, Lorain Port Authority, Firelands Fly Fishers, and Lorain Tourism Council.  The FRIENDS of the Metro Parks will also be at the event and will provide many kids activities.

Other – Bring kayak to event to get “safety checked”.  Kayaks that meet the grade will receive a boat decal.
